New scientific paper offers best practices for inclusive field settings

Creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments in field settings is not just beneficial; it's essential for the progress and integrity of scientific research.

A new paper published in the journal Trends in Ecology and Evolution (TREE) outlines best practices for safe, inclusive, and welcoming field settings. Led by FieldFutures staff and collaborators at University of Santa Cruz, the paper provides recommendations for proactive practices, training strategies, and systemic policy changes to build safe and inclusive fieldwork settings from the outset. The paper provides a roadmap for field scientists, leaders, students, and institutions to improve their preparation practices, and contribute to building the movement for safe and inclusive fieldwork.

Read the paper in TREE here.

Together these practices, training, and policies can precipitate transformative systemic change that will welcome and safeguard the next generation of field scientists.
